* First and second year (level) of the same foreign language must be taken during grades 7-12 for admission to the University of Utah.

Note that all of these courses have advanced placement (AP) versions that can be taken to earn college credit. Although the Metallurgical Engineering undergraduate program is planned as a 4-year degree without AP credit, AP courses help students to graduate earlier or maintain more flexible schedules. Other AP tests will fulfill general education requirements as noted in the AP credit section.
