Process Engineer
Responsibilities
  • Working the operating shift roster, direct process or procedural changes to maintain operating areas within process control parameters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Copper Operations training programs for salaried and hourly employees, particularly for crewmembers.
  • Using established systems, gather and analyze Copper Operations operating data to make sure quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Participate in department activities to ensure costs, production, maintenance, health and safety and environmental parameters meet or better budget and are consistent with Kennecott Utah Copper's business goals and objectives.
  • Communicate operating standards to salaried and hourly employees on production, maintenance, cost, safety, health and environmental issues.
  • Assist in formulation, evaluation and implementation of cost reduction programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of innovative process improvements, work practices and equipment utilization, which improve productivity and/or enhance equipment availability.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining an efficient and productive work force by encouraging order, discipline and cooperation. Ensure business is conducted in a fair and consistent manner and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Participate in the daily hands-on involvement in department activities including improving employee relations and communication.

Qualifications

Degree
B.S. Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience
B.S. degree related metallurgical/chemical engineering experience or M.S. degree related metallurgical/chemical engineering experience.
