Job Description
We are interested in hiring a recently graduated metallurgical engineering student for our Los Angeles, California plant.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to operations management as necessary.
  • Participate on various teams focused on product conception and/or product development. This work will be customer focused and may include assignments as project leader.
  • Work independently on smaller projects from conception to completion. This work will include “hands on” type projects.
  • Thoroughly document all technical work that is completed. This will include writing technical papers for the online library.
  • Function as a shared resource within the production value streams for assistance in difficult problem solving.
  • Combine theoretical and practical knowledge toward innovation of new products and processes.

Qualifications

Degree
Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy or Materials Science
Skills
  • Internship in a manufacturing environment would increase a candidate's desirability.
  • Must be able to exercise and develop good inter-personal skills necessary to work well with Kaiser personnel and customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work around mechanical equipment and furnaces in laboratory and production environments.
  • Self motivated, open-minded and mechanically inclined.
  • Experience with metallographic techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean-Sigma is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to other manufacturing facilities in the U.S.
