The Metallurgical Engineering Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012; Telephone: (410) 347-7700.

At our last review, the reviewers wrote that our undergraduate program “is unique in its horizontal integration of all areas of its field,” and “has an admirable sequence of courses that allows students to gain significant experience with engineering design in the context of materials and metals.”

ABET requires the department to collect information both from bachelors students that have graduated from the department and from their employers to evaluate the effectiveness of our program.
